TapIM
TapIM Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 10, 2026
TapIM is a study app for internal medicine board preparation. TapIM has no account or sign-up. Most app data stays on your device. Optional iCloud backup, usage sharing, card feedback, and App Store purchases work as described below.
Information TapIM handles
TapIM contains no advertising SDK and no third-party analytics SDK. It does not automatically send your study content or contact information to us.
- Pseudonymous usage stats. This is on by default for new installs. TapIM sends a small summary to the app's public Apple CloudKit database. It includes a random usage-record ID, app/build and deck versions, specialty, activity dates, aggregate review and rating counts, active days, streak, coarse readiness totals, realized study minutes, onboarding status, and in-app event counts. TapIM does not add your name, email, card content, device model, location, language, subscription status, exam timing, or study settings. Apple CloudKit attaches a container-specific creator user-record ID to public records. The record is visible to the TapIM developer under CloudKit access controls and is not readable by other TapIM users. It is updated while sharing remains on. You can turn sharing off at any time in Settings; doing so, or using Reset All Data, queues deletion of the public usage record.
- Card feedback you choose to send. A submitted report contains the card ID, category, subcategory, selected issue, your optional note, deck/app versions, iOS version, and submission time. TapIM does not add your name, email, or the card text. Apple CloudKit attaches the same kind of container-specific creator user-record ID. The TapIM developer can read the report to investigate and improve the study material. Do not put personal, contact, or patient-identifying information in the optional note. Reports are retained as needed to investigate content issues; contact us if you want help locating and deleting a submitted report.
Where your study data lives
- On your device. Your flashcard and case progress, review history, settings, preferences, and unsent retry queues are stored locally on your iPhone or iPad.
- In your private iCloud (optional). If you enable Auto Backup or make a manual backup, TapIM saves a copy of your study state to your private Apple CloudKit database. It is tied to your Apple Account, is not readable by the TapIM developer, and can be deleted from Settings → Backup & Privacy → Delete Backup Snapshots.
Purchases
Subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. TapIM does not receive your name, email address, or payment details. Purchases carry a random identifier generated and securely retained on your device to identify purchases. Reset All Data does not change that purchase identifier. Apple's handling of App Store information is described in Apple's Privacy Policy.
Notifications
If you enable study reminders, they are scheduled locally on your device. TapIM does not upload your reminder schedule.
Apple diagnostics
If you separately choose to share crash reports or analytics with developers through Apple's system settings, Apple may provide that information under Apple's policies. This is separate from TapIM's optional Share Usage Stats setting.
Your choices and deletion controls
- Turn off Share Usage Stats to queue deletion of the public usage record. If the Apple Account changes before deletion finishes, sign back into the original account and reopen TapIM so the app can retry.
- Use Settings → Reset All Data to erase study progress and preferences on this device, turn off Auto Backup and usage sharing, rotate the usage identifier, and queue deletion of the prior usage record. Existing private iCloud backup snapshots and the permanent purchase identifier are kept.
- Use Settings → Backup & Privacy → Delete Backup Snapshots to remove private CloudKit backups.
- Deleting the app removes its app-container data, but it does not by itself delete private iCloud snapshots or records already sent to public CloudKit. Keychain-held purchase and pending-deletion identifiers may also remain. Use the in-app controls first if you want those cloud records removed.
Children
TapIM is a professional medical-education tool intended for adults. It is not directed at children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If TapIM's data practices change, this policy will be updated and the app will request any consent required before a new optional data flow begins.
